Storm-related damage, non-stop load-shedding lead to increased electricity service requests
24 April 2023
The
City is experiencing increased electricity service requests primarily due to
non-stop load-shedding at high stages and damage related to recent storms.
'There are a number of areas across the metro which are currently experiencing unplanned outages. Our teams are attending to these and we thank our customers for their understanding. It is often not possible to give an exact time for restoration where damage to infrastructure is involved and where an outage affects a large area,' said Mayoral Committee Member for Energy, Councillor Beverley van Reenen.
The areas impacted include:
- Joe Slovo
- Weltevreden Valley
- Langa
- Mfuleni
- Philippi
- Manenberg
- Mowbray
- Heinz Park
- Lotus River
- Robinvale
- Newfields
- Mouille Point
- Kraaifontein
- Lansdowne
- Langeberg Hoogte
- Durbanville
- Ocean View
- Wynberg
- Pelican Park
'The Electricity Call Centre is currently experiencing high call volumes. Customers are encouraged to log their own service requests via e-Services to alert the technicians to intervene. Please do not log the same request on multiple channels or multiple times as this causes further delays,' said Councillor van Reenen.
For service requests (please only log on one channel and do not log the same request multiple times):
